Southern Exposure has a great show opening Friday, November 11, featuring Swarm’s Ethan Worden. The group exhibition, Working Conditions, features Ethan and 8 other artists working on process-based installations for the duration of the exhibit (through January 6th). More from SOEX about the show:Working Conditions is a process-based project featuring nine artists invited by Southern Exposure’s Curatorial Committee. Each artist creates his or her own work environment as installation within the gallery and keeps regular work hours there, while developing a project rooted in notions of production, labor, and process. Rather than working alone in their studios, the artists in this exhibition are obliged to interact with their environment as they operate in full view of the public in an open space they share with one another. Each artist will work at Southern Exposure for fifteen hours per week or more.
Opening reception is Friday, November 11, 2011, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Hope to see you all there celebrating 11/11/11 the right way!
A new series of postcards by Ethan Worden (available now in the gallery!)
Ethan writes about this series:
Places Over Places is a series of postcards that try to image the spaces directly overhead particular places. If a place can be imagined as a particular point on the earth’s surface, these cards document that point as if projected infinitely out into space. Places Over Places comes from a larger body of work specifically concerned with examining our contradictory and complex notions of place.
