Last night, April Banks and Amanda Williams were in the gallery to talk about their current show at Swarm, “re-FABLE.” Creatively inspired by the adventure of getting their ancestral DNA tests taken, the duo shared their process and where it led - to a series of works talking about missing information, identity, fabricated histories, and working together from across the country.

The exhibition “re-FABLE” runs through May 22, 2011. Swarm Gallery is open Wed-Sun 12-5:30pm. www.swarmgallery.com | (Installations on view: To the left is “My Grandmother Was Not One to Repeat Herself” (2011) by Amanda Williams, Acrylic, mixed media on wood panel. The violin installation to the right is “Possession is Nine Tenths” (2011) by April Banks, Plaster)

This week’s shop item of the week are these powerful t-shirts by Swarm affiliate artist April Banks. If you know what’s what, you should definitely get yours in time for the opening of re-fable (you know, April’s two-person show with Amanda Williams, this Saturday at Swarm).
Head on over to our shop to check them out for yourself.
